Narrow One: capture the flag with a bow in your hands
Narrow One is a team shooter built around one weapon. Every archer carries a bow and a melee weapon, nothing else, and the whole game comes out of how a drawn arrow behaves: it flies where you point for a few metres, then it drops. A quick tap sends a weak, lobbed shot that is good for finishing a runner; a full draw sends a fast arrow that still needs a touch of lead and elevation on a distant target. Learning that arc is the game, and it is the reason a match against strangers feels fair rather than a contest of who has the better reflexes.
Matches are capture the flag between a red and a blue team, twelve players in all, on maps that range from tight castle courtyards and stone halls to open fields, a desert, a jungle and a graveyard. The team that carries the enemy flag home three times wins. Between matches you spend the coins you earned on the shop, where hats, armour, hair, bows and melee weapons change how you look and nudge your stats: armour slows you but takes more hits, a lighter bow draws faster, a longbow hits harder. The build on narrowone.org is the game's own web version served from this domain, and it matches you into the same live servers as everyone else.
Controls & mechanics
| Action | Control | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Move and jump | WASD / arrow keys, Space | Jumping while running is the fastest way over a wall or across a gap |
| Draw and shoot | Hold left mouse, release | A short draw lobs the arrow; a full draw sends it fast and flat |
| Swap weapon | Q or mouse wheel | Bow to melee and back; the hammer or sword is quicker up close than a rushed shot |
| Third person / players / chat | Y, Tab, T | Y pulls the camera behind you, Tab shows both teams, T opens the chat |
| Menu | Escape | Opens the shop, squad, maps and settings without leaving the match |
How to win more flags in Narrow One
- Aim above, not at: Past ten metres or so every arrow falls. Put the tip of the arrow just above the target's head at medium range and higher again for a far shot, and hold the draw fully before you release: a half-drawn arrow drops sooner and hits softer.
- Carry the flag along walls: The flag carrier is slow and everyone can see where the flag is. Run the edge of the map rather than the middle, jump every gap you can, and hand the escort job to a teammate who moves ahead of you and clears the archers on the route home.
- Defend from height, attack from below: Most maps give each base a tower or a wall. An archer up there sees the whole approach and gets free drop on anyone coming in. When you attack, hug the base of the wall where the defender has to lean out to see you, and go in when they are reloading.

- Platform: Web browser (HTML5)
- Engine: Three.js WebGL, online multiplayer
Pro tip: The melee weapon is not a last resort, it is a tool for the flag room. Swap to it with Q the moment you are inside the enemy base: a hammer swing lands instantly, while a drawn bow at arm's length is easy to dodge. Grab the flag, swap back to the bow while you run, and jump constantly so the arrows aimed at your head sail past your knees. On defence, stand where you can see the flag but the attacker cannot see you until they pick it up; the second they grab it they slow down, and a full-draw arrow to the back is the easiest shot in the game.
Frequently asked questions
What is Narrow One?
A first-person capture the flag shooter where everyone fights with a bow and a melee weapon. Two teams of six race to steal each other's flag three times on medieval maps, and coins earned in matches buy skins with small stat effects.
Is it really multiplayer here?
Yes. The game files are served from narrowone.org, but matchmaking and the match itself run on Pelican Party's live servers, so you play with and against real people. You play as a guest; the developer's account sign-in is not wired up on this copy.
What are the controls?
WASD or arrows to move, Space to jump, hold the left mouse button to draw and release to shoot, Q or the mouse wheel to swap to melee, Y for third person, Tab for the player list, T for chat and Escape for the menu. Gamepads are supported.
Is Narrow One free?
Yes. It is free to play in the browser on narrowone.org with no download and no account. Coins are earned in matches, and every item in the shop can be bought with them.
Does it run on a phone or Chromebook?
It is a WebGL game and runs on Chromebooks and recent phones, with on-screen touch controls for moving, aiming, jumping and shooting. A desktop with a mouse is the easiest way to aim.
